To promote collaboration between community partners, and to utilize education and prevention strategies to decrease the use of non-medical use of prescription and over-the-counter drugs.
The City of Everett was awarded the Partnerships for Success (PFS) Grant in 2015. This is a primary prevention grant that focuses on preventing and reducing non-medical use of prescription drugs among high school-aged youth. PFS is a part of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) comprehensive approach towards preventing substance use disorder in Massachusetts.
Everett's PFS Grant is coordinated out of the Everett Board of Health, and works in collaboration with Everett Public Schools, Everett Community Health Partnership-Substance Abuse Coalition (ECHP-SAC), Cambridge Health Alliance's Community Health Improvement Department, Everett Police Department and other youth-serving entities in Everett to achieve our goals.
