Kids to Park day is a nationwide initiative to encourage children and their families to get out and get moving, and enjoy the wonderful local, state and national parks. Outdoor physical activity is very important to a child’s growth and overall health, it helps prevent childhood obesity, diabetes and many other possible illnesses. It also is instrumental in teaching kids how to interact socially and cultivate friendships, while meeting new people.
Mayor DeMaria stated, “Last year this was a beautiful day and a great opportunity to invite the youth of Everett and their families to one of our City’s parks and connect them to our community. I want to help families engage their kids with local parks and green spaces and empower them to explore the outdoors, which promotes healthy activity and a better lifestyle. Let’s get them off of their devices, and get em’ moving. Having fun outdoors with their friends.”
This event will also include healthy snacks, give-aways and activities, including games, relay races, and demonstrations of outdoor related skills for you to learn from our Scout groups … we will even have a rock climbing wall that can safely accommodate up to 5 climbers at a time!
Participants will include but are not limited to the YMCA, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, RCN & the Everett Wellness Center.
So once again, please join us for Kid’s to Parks Day, Saturday, May 19th beginning at 11am at Swan St Park…..Let's get Moving!
