Dear City of Everett Residents,

The City of Everett and RecycleBank have partnered in a plan to improve our city’s recycling program. RecycleBank provides a single-stream rewards based recycling program. Single-Stream means you will no longer need to sort your recycling! The city will provide each resident with with a burgundy wheeled tote at no cost.

RecycleBank provides a single stream recycling service; this means there is no need to separate paper from the commingled recycling. All recycled materials are placed in the burgundy RecycleBank tote, including plastics 1-7, glass, aluminum, steel and tin cans, plastic milk and detergent containers, empty aerosol cans, newspaper, cardboard, phone books, junk mail, cereal boxes, mixed paper and paper bags. As part of the collection cycle, the tote, which has an embedded identifi cation tag, is weighed and emptied.

RecycleBank Points are earned based on the amount of recycling and can be redeemed for rewards at hundred of national and local businesses. You can visit www.recyclebank.com to redeem these points or call 1-888-727-2978. Some of the participation businesses include, Starbucks, RiteAid, Whole Foods, Borders, 1-800 Flowers, and Dunkin Donuts.

Recycling more, thereby diverting materials from the regular trash into the recycling stream, reduces the cost of trash disposal. The automated tote collection system makes it safer for the Capitol Waste employees out on the road as well.

Be sure to check out the RecycleBank website at www.recyclebank.com.

If you have any questions about the program please feel free to call Mr. Norton, Recycling Coordinator for the city at (617) 394- 5004. Thank you for participating in this exciting new program.
